Ann Marie Phelps is married to Dr. Phelps and is our office manager. She enjoys making our office run smoothly and interacting with our patients. She attended the University of Missouri at Rolla, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering. She has experience from working at GE Aircraft Engines in Ohio, and Sherry Laboratories in Muncie, Indiana. Ann Marie has been involved at the office for many years and began her full-time position here in 2014. She is our main person responsible for scheduling, financial arrangements, and overall office and patient communications. Ann Marie and Dr. Phelps have three children and are very active in their church, school, and various sports activities.
Markita Carter is our primary chairside dental assistant, and she is outstanding. She is originally from the Chicago area, where she had experience in the banking, retail, and customer service industries. Markita wanted to use her experience in a more person-to-person way and moved to Indianapolis to attend Kaplan College for dental assisting. She continued her education and became a Certified Dental Assistant. She has been with Dr. Phelps since 2008 and has mastered many dental assisting procedures and other skills including photography and dental software integration. Markita continues to learn, have fun and enjoy taking care of her patients. She and her fiancé, Xavier, have two daughters and enjoy spending quality family time together.
Penny Baker joined Dr. Phelps’s practice in 2007. She is a graduate of Indiana University-South Bend School of Dental Hygiene and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science from Indiana University. She has a wealth of experience and provides excellent care for her patients in her own kind and gentle way. Penny is an advocate for overall healthy living for her patients and all of us here at the office as well. She is in tune with finding new ways to provide better treatment and always improves her patients’ experience. Penny wants all of our patients to understand how important it is to treat and prevent gum disease. She has two daughters and enjoys travel, running, and cycling.
